About Us:

I got into this business because I have sleep apnea myself and I see a tremendous need for affordable sleep apnea therapy. The medical industry wants to charge people thousands of dollars for a sleep study and then they send people home with a CPAP/BIPAP machine with very little instruction on how to use it or what to expect. I created this site so anyone who even suspects that they have sleep apnea can have easy access to the most advanced technology available to treat sleep apnea.

I had my sleep study done several years ago and it found that I had 15 apneas per hour. That means that every 4 minutes, I stopped breathing! Even though 15 apneas per hour is a mild case of sleep apnea (many people have severe sleep apnea with more than 30 apneas per hour), the doctor recommended I start on a sleep apnea machine.

The first CPAP machine i started on was a Philips Respironics System One A-flex machine. I had no clue what I was doing! I hated putting water in the humidifier every night because I felt like I had more important things to do. And many nights I woke up wrestling with the nasal mask they had given me. To make matters worse, just the thought of being dependent on a machine for the rest of my life was depressing. So I stopped using the CPAP machine they had given me.

Over the next couple of years, I observed how sleepy I was in the morning and how it took me a couple of hours just to wake up. Sometimes my arms and legs felt stiff in the mornings – as if they had been deprived of oxygen all night long! Furthermore, my headaches and mental state were getting worse!  The pain got worse and worse, until finally, i decided to give a CPAP machine another shot.

By this time in my life, I had lost my job, so I did not have health insurance. I had no one to help me navigate this mysterious, terrifying realm of CPAP machines! I had no idea where to even begin! I tried selling my old Philips Respironics System One A-flex machine, but nobody would buy it – not even for $20 on Craigslist!

So I did some research and found another CPAP machine that I could try. The second CPAP machine I tried was the Resmed Airsense 10 with Autoset. I wanted to learn everything about this machine because I was ready to take my sleep apnea therapy seriously! I took the entire machine apart and looked inside of it and here is what I found… The physical part of the machine; with the humidifier, filter, power cord, etc, is the easy part. The challenging part is the settings and programming that are involved in making a good machine work perfectly!  I tinkered and fiddled with the settings for a couple years until I found the perfect settings that work great for everyone!

I loved my Resmed Airsense 10 with Autoset CPAP machine! It is part of a newer generation of CPAP machines called Auto CPAP machines or ‘APAPS’. It comes with the latest ‘Autoset’ technology – where the machine automatically adjusts it’s rhythm to match your breathing rhythm to maximize your oxygen intake.

I used the Resmed Airsense 10 Auto CPAP machine for a couple years and loved it! I felt so much better! Once I got my sleep apnea properly treated, my headaches, body pains, and daytime sleepiness went away. Also, my night sweats and nighttime heart-pounding stopped because my body was no longer going into fight-or-flight at night. Every time you stop breathing, your body goes into fight-or-flight mode in an attempt to wake you up and get you breathing again. Many people have sleep apnea so bad that they wake up with their sheets drenched in sweat!

Today I use a Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto Auto BIPAP machine. It comes programmed with the most advanced breathing algorithm. The Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto is part of a newer generation of BIPAP machines called Auto BIPAPS.  The Auto BIPAPs detect your breathing and make automatic adjustments to maximize your therapy – whereas the other BIPAPS are not automatic.

The difference between a CPAP machine and a BIPAP machine is the CPAP machine only blows air in; whereas, a BIPAP machine blows air in AND pulls the air out. For example, the carbon dioxide you exhale is a way for the body to eliminate built up carbonic acid. Too much carbonic acid build-up inside the body causes pain in the form of burning and stiffness. The BIPAP allows your body to blow off more of that carbon dioxide which reduces the amount of carbonic acid build-up inside your body.

I made the decision myself to upgrade from a Resmed Airsense 10 Auto CPAP machine to a Resmed Aircurve 10 Auto BIPAP machine because I want the very best sleep apnea therapy for myself. Since I started using a Resmed Aircurve 10 Auto BIPAP – the pain and stiffness in my limbs is less and my dreams are better! I remember years of having nightmares and night terrors that caused my entire body to tense up!  And I could feel my heart pounding in my chest -- and then -- I would wake up and the entire bed would be drenched in sweat!  My nightmares were usually about me being chased by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, showing up to class without my assignments done, or taking communion in front of the entire church without my clothes on!

I no longer have those nightmares. And ever since I have started using an Auto BIPAP, my dreams are more vivid and peaceful.

My mission today is to make the very best sleep apnea therapy available to everyone. If you suspect you have sleep apnea because you snore, or have any of the symptoms i described, then it is in your best interest to get your sleep apnea treated. You will feel so much better! And it cannot hurt to try...

Sending you much love and wishing you many restful nights,

The Perfect CPAP Team
